If you have not done so already, you may want to take a look at our 'About Masonry' page to find out more about who masons are and what we do.
There are two basic requirements in order to become a mason: 1. You must be a man, and 2. you must believe in God. Masonry does not in any capacity operate as a religion or require a belief in a specific God. The interpretation of what constitutes faith in God is left to the individual mason.
To join a masonic lodge you must submit a petition signed by two masons in good standing. If you have a friend or relative who is a mason, you can ask them to sign your petition. If you do not know a mason, you can contact the Lodge Secretary to obtain a petition and begin the process; the Secretary can assist you in obtaining the necessary signatures for your petition.
Once your petition is received, it will be read at the next lodge meeting, where the Master of the Lodge will refer the petition to the Investigation Committee. A member of the Investigation Committee will contact you to arrange an interview - usually done in person with two members of the Investigations Committee. The purpose of the interview is to get a general sense of your character and morality. The Investigation Committee will give a report of the interview at the next regular lodge meeting and a vote of the members present will be taken. Once your petition has been accepted by the members of the lodge, you will be eligible to recieve the three degrees of masonry: Entered Apprentice, Fellowcraft, & Master Mason.
